Adam´s Mish Mash

Hello there and welcome to Adam’s Mish Mash, the show where even Meerkats are allowed to speak, though they don’t seem to want to. I wonder why. And with you as always is Adam Snellgrove, the guy behind such great inventions as the never landing cat. You take a cat, you tie a piece of bread on its back with the buttered side upwards and let it go. A cat always falls on its feet but a buttered piece of bread always falls butter down. Thus the cat will spin indefinitely and create an infinite power supply. Tests are still in progress. And if someone says they invented that first, I’ll sue their cat and their toast! And what do we do here? Well we talk about mildly interesting stuff but we do it in English and in Czech. I call the cat Tesseract.

We all suspect, that humanity would be able to wipe itself out if it wanted to or If it would be foolish enough to. Be it with Nuclear War, the creation of a mini black hole or the rebellion of intelligent robots, humanity everyday stands on the brink of doom. Very Dramatic. But this isn’t me talking but physicist Stephen Hawking. He warns us, that this century will be the most dangerous for Humanity. He claims, that disaster on planet Earth is pretty much a certainty in a thousand to ten thousand years, but by then we’ll be colonising planets to which we can evacuate. But till we can do that, we are exposing ourselves to great danger. But where will this danger come from?

He says danger will most probably originate from badly understood new technology and underestimating it. It seems like from a bad science fiction novel, but Stephen Hawking made himself many times heard, that he believes A.I. and losing control of it to be the main culprit when it comes to the annihilation of Humankind. But he also warns of Nuclear weapons and genetically engineered viruse. He warned that we are not going to stop making progress, or reverse it, so we must recognise the dangers and control them. And hope that we soon find and colonise a different planet that we could in the worst case scenario swap for Mother Earth.

And that is all and check out www.rozhlas.cz/plus, but if you didn’t understand this episode, then you should maybe take your canoe and start exploring the universe.
