Radio Swing Orchestra was created as a part of the Czech Radio Ceske Budejovice in 2004. The founder and the first head of the Radio Swing Orchestra was the trumpetist and pedagogue Vaclav Hlavac. Radio Swing Orchestra continued in the activity of the Swing Orchestra by the Elementary Artistic School in Ceské Budejovice and the Senior Big Band Ceské Budejovice, whose leader was in that moment Vaclav Hlavác.

Radio Swing Orchestra performs in the classical "big band" cast (4 trumpets, 4 trombones, 5 saxophones + rhytmical section). Orchestra is created also from the singers Alena Cechova and Petra Chlebnickova. Radio Swing Orchestra, composed both from the professional and non-professional musiciens, is focused especially on the concert activity. The Orchestra participates in the swing and jazz music festivals (Decin, Ceska Kamenice). In addition participates also in the various enertainment events, for example accompanied singer Tomas Savka or trumpetist Miroslav Surka. 

In the repertoir of Radio Swing Orchestra there are the compositions of the major known swing orchestras like for example orchestras of Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman or Count Basie. In the repertoir of the Radio Swing Orchestra are included aside from the world standards also the compositions of the Czech authors. This year the Radio Swing Orchestra will record its premier CD.

Vaclav Hlavac
Vaclav Hlavac is graduated from the Conservatory of Jaroslav Jezek. During his musical live he performed in many bands and orchestras, for example in the Swing Band of Ferdinand Havlik, Big Band Praha or Big Band of Conservatory of Jaroslav Jezek. The longest musical engagement of Vaclav Hlavac was in the Dancing Orchestra Metroklub in Ceske Budejovice. Vaclav Hlavac also performed for many years as pedagogue in the Elementary Artisctic School in Ceske Budejovice, Piaristicke Square where he founded the scholastic swing orchestra that acquiered many prizes from the jazz competitions and festivals.

Petra Chlebnickova
Singer Petra Chlebnickova, born in Brno started in the Junior Big band of the Elementary Artistic School Veveri 133 below the leadership of Petr Pospisil and Petr Janovsky. Except that she had possibility to perform severel times in the Evenings of Lada Kerndl. During her studies in Ceske Budejovice Petra Chlebnickova performed in the Swing Orchestra of Vaclav Hlavac by the Elementary Artistic School on the Piaristicke Square. She is the soloist of the Radio Swing Orchestra from 2005.

Alena Cechová
Singer Alena Cechova, born in Nove Hrady is learner of Hana Kudrnova. Firstly was Alena Cechova the soloist of the Church Choir in the Slovakian Trebisov. From 1992 she is in the opera of the South Bohemian Theatre in Ceske Budejovice. Beside this she performed also in the Dancing Orchestra "Melodie" in Tyn nad Vltavou. She is the soloist of the Radio Swing Orchestra from 2004.
