Lörinc Bubnó (Hungary)
Lörinc works for Radio Petőfi - the pop music radio station that belongs to the Hungarian public service media group - as an editor/reporter of the prime time afternoon show of the station. Moreover, he often takes part in the fierce discussions with the station´s head of music about what to include in their current playlist and what to drop. Besides his radio job he is an active all-around musician in various genres: a session guitarist in various projects and a member of Saint Ephraim Male Choir - a professional chamber choir specializing in orthodox church music and in the Hungarian choral tradition.
What would be your advice for emerging musicians who want to make it abroad?
It's a tough thing! They need to remain young and ardent in their hearts to be able to enjoy the music they love playing - yet they need to grow up as fast as possible and play things astutely because music is cold and hard business most of the time.
Have you ever won any competition? And are you a competitive person?
I've won several music competitions as a child (playing the recorder as a matter of fact) then some local talent spotters with my band a few years ago. Also, we've won a professional choral competition with the choir I sing in - but that was one hunder percent team-work. Honestly, I'm not very much into competitions: music is played for someone - and not against someone.
Have you ever played in a band, solo or as a DJ?
I have played in various bands and groups (both pop music and classical) as a guitarist, singer, piano player, recorder player, conductor.
