
Director General of Czech Radio Peter Duhan has condoled Mrs Dagmar Havlova and expressed his sympathy over the loss of the Czech ex-president Vaclav Havel. The full version of the condolence letter:

The Czech Radio Council elected Peter Duhan the Director General of Czech Radio during its regular meeting on 28 July 2011.

The youth station of Czech Radio – Radio Wave announces the cooperation with the STIMUL Festival. On the 1st October they jointly organize the Radio Wave Stimul Festival at the Archa Theatre in Prague.

Czech Radio would like to invite you to its upcoming Open Doors Day at the main premises at the Vinohradská and ŘÃmská Streets, Prague 2. On Saturday, June 11th, from 9.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m., groups of visitors will have a unique opportunity to see the main buildings of Czech Radio including studios which are otherwise not open to the public. Guides will inform visitors about the past and present of radio broadcasting and about the history and development of the Czech Radio site. All of the tours will be in Czech, other than, for the first time, a guided tour in English at 10.40 a.m.

Czech Radio has launched a new thematic web portal devoted entirely to jazz music. The portal is accompanied by an internet radio called Euro Jazz. The project has originated within the assignments of the interim Czech Radio Director General Mr Peter Duhan who intends to “launch low-budget web portals and focus on utilising the internal reserves”. The radio can be accessed at jazz.rozhlas.cz.

The European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion, launched in the EU countries, Norway and Insland, included a great number of various activities and projects and one of them was also the announcement of a competition for journalists who are covering such topics as the poverty and social exclusion. After the recent Association of International Broadcasting Prize awarded to Stanislav Motl in London, the Czech Radio editors received another International award.

At the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, a delegation from the state administration of the Afghanistan Logar Province came for a short-term attachment to the Czech institutions. Three representatives visited Czech Radio on the 19th November.

On Monday, 22 November 2010, the interim Director General of Czech Radio Mgr. art. Peter Duhan signed together with conductor Ondrej Lenard an agreement upon which Mr Ondrej Lenard, the prominent artistic personality, has been appointed the new Chief Conductor of Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra (SOČR) for the period of 1 September 2011 until 30 June 2014. Ondrej Lenard belongs among the stable co-workers of SOČR for several years. Besides the regular SOČR concerts within its concert season, Ondrej Lenard repeatedly performed with the symphony orchestra also at events such as the International Music Festival Litomyšl. During the current running season Ondrej Lenard will be conducting the Symphony No. 3 by Mahler at SOČR´s concert on 11th April.

Stanislav Motl´s radio programme “A Boy and the Stars”, part of the Czech Radio 2 – Praha series Traces, Facts, Mysteries, has received the prestigious 2010 AIBs International Media Excellence Award for the Best investigative documentary.
Czech Radio is pleased to announce that both of its candidates for the 2010 New Talent competition have been selected for the semi-finals. The selected artists are Mr. Michal SedláÄek /violin/ and Mr. Daniel Svoboda /clarinet/.
