Iva Jonášová Becomes Radio Wave’s Editor-In-Chief

2. prosinec 2015

Starting on December 1, Radio Wave is headed by a new Editor-in-Chief – Iva Jonášová. In the upcoming years, the station, which targets young-minded listeners, will invest in creative and multimedia projects, events and support of progressive music formats and bands. Iva Jonášová has gained extensive experience working in Czech Radio and Czech Television and is also actively involved in community radio projects and new format development.

Iva Jonášová: “For 2016, Radio Wave has planned a number of new events and programmes. On January 16, the station will celebrate its tenth birthday at a grand party in Prague’s Meet Factory. In spring, we will launch a new broadcasting studio on Vinohradská Avenue enabling direct contact between our presenters and the public. We will continue to provide support to the Czech music scene with our Live Sessions concert series and our Startér and Czeching talent competitions. It’s also an ambition of ours to get even more involved with major music festivals and to participate in Czech Radio’s project “Charles Is a King!” – an original on-air show combining past and present.”

After graduating from the Philosophical Faculty of Charles University in Prague, Iva Jonášová worked as a programme creator, producer, director, presenter and editor with various Czech Radio stations (Czech Radio 6, Leonardo, Vltava, Online, Praha, Regina) and with Czech Television (shows: Paskvil, Kosmopolis, kult_off, Před půlnocí).

Deputy Director General for Programmes and Broadcasting, René Zavoral: “I am sure that Radio Wave’s new Editor-in-Chief will deliver a new and creative programme for our young audience. In 2014, Iva Jonášová became Czech Radio’s new format producer, focusing especially on the development of new formats and projects for the young generation. Since 2014, she has also been in charge of Czeching, Czech Radio’s project aimed at promoting contemporary Czech non-mainstream music abroad. She also draws on her rich experience working in the community scene. I would like to thank the previous Editor-in-Chief Tomáš Turek for his great work for Radio Wave and for Czech Radio as a whole.”

Iva Jonášová is a co-founder of the non-profit organisation StreetCulture, o.p.s. and is involved in the development of community radio stations and new radio formats. In addition, she is active as a lecturer with Street Culture’s Radio Workshop and teaches audio-visual production at Prague’s College of Journalism. She is a member of the Vinyla Awards Jury and Council along with other music awards panels. She is a co-organiser of the talent music competition 1B2P and has collaborated with the showcase festival and conference Czech Music Crossroads.
