The Revealed Continues

The Year of the Gorilla was announced by the UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme) and WAZA (World Association of Zoos and Aquariums), and Czech Radio has become their partner via the project the Revealed. Czech Radio has also established a partnership with the legendary Richard Leakey on his project WildlifeDirect.

The online transmission of the gorilla family living at the Prague Zoo will continue, however, the primary content of the project will be the provision of information about gorillas in Africa, the environment where they are living, the African environment protection, and about the overall context. "Moreover, we keep on collecting the financial means via the bank account the Revealed, and we plan to launch other enlightenment activities focused mostly on children in Africa," specified Miroslav Bobek. "In the nearest future, we will launch in co-operation with our long-term partner the Limbe Wildlife Centre online broadcasting of their gorillas. The preliminary timing of the transmissions is Friday 3rd April and Monday 6th April, both between 14 and 15 hours at the webpage www.rozhlas.cz/odhaleni."

Then, the team of the project the Revealed received an award Innovation for Living Planet from the Greenpeace spokesperson Mrs. Lenka Boráková and Czech actor Mr. Petr Vacek. "Greenpeace welcomes the utilisation of modern technologies in the area of the environment protection," said Lenka Boráková. "We highly appreciate the innovative approach of Czech Radio in this respect. The prize Innovation for living planet has been awarded to the authors of the project the Revealed by Greenpeace International for the utilisation of such technology for the purpose of educating the public about the positive approach towards nature."
