Additional information: Name is taken from popular play "Maija and Paija" of Latvian author Anna Brigadere - Varis is the main male character - a young boy which is bewitched to be lazy and during the play (with help of Maija) changes to a truly positive character. Ms. Anna Brigadere lived and created most of her work in Tervete - a village not far from the capture place. Varis is rather common though not very widespread nowadays man's name in Latvia.
