Michaela Ambrosi

Michaela Ambrosi is one of the most talented young Czech traverso player. She graduated from her studies of modern flute and recorder at the Prague Conservatory (Jan Riedlbauch, Jakub Kydlíček).
She holds a Bachelors degree in Historical Informed Practise from the Charles University in Prague (Jana Semerádová) and BMus and MMus degrees in traverso playing from the Royal Conservatory in The Hague (Wilbert Hazelzet, Kate Clark). Michaela also studied at the Conservatorio "Evaristo Felice Dall'Abaco" in Verona - Erasmus Program (Marcello Gatti).
During her relatively short musical career she has performed with the best European baroque orchestras including the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century, the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. Michaela has had consulted her playing with a large number of world-renowned musicians from Europe, America, Japan or Australia. As an amateur she also plays the baroque violin and oboe.
She co-founded ensemble La Foresta Incantata and Pro Arte Bohemica. Michaela is also engaged in intensive research. She has created, recorded and completed a critical edition of works for the flute and violin by Václav Vodička (Wencel Wodiczka) op. 2 and op. 3 in cooperation with the Czech Radio under the editorial series Thesaurus Musicae Antique. The life and compositions of Jiří Čart (Georg Czarth) are in her current interests, and the focus of her Masters Research Thesis which was awarded an “excellent” mark and got an award from the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. She is now commencing her doctoral dissertation on the same subject at the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno. She was recently appointed in the same institution, as the first ever professor for historical flutes.
