Concerto for Bassoon and Orchestra "Peter's Stones" - Jan Vičar

30. květen 2018

Three movements of Concerto for Bassoon and Orchestra "Petrovy kameny" (Peter’s Stones – a peak in Hrubý Jeseník mountains; I. Harsh and soft stones, II. Rounded stones, III. Mysterious stones) is a programme composition about nineteen minutes long.

“While composing it, I imagined what it would be like if human passions, hardships and small delights that the legendary Petrovy kameny witnessed were imprinted into them. More so because tones of an ancient deep shawm instrument seemed to be coming out of somewhere, maybe from the bowels of the stones themselves…“ Jan Vičar

The world premiere of the composition “Peter’s Stones” took place on 9 November 2017. The soloist Jan Hudeček was accompanied by Moravian Philharmonics Olomouc, conducted by Petr Vronský.
