Concerto for Harp and Orchestra - Lukáš Sommer

11. listopad 2015

"I wrote Concerto for Harp and Orchestra for Jana Boušková, one of the best soloist in the world. The premiere in Bremerhaven in Germany was successful. Still, I felt that the composition needed some revision. Therefore I am thankful to Czech Radio Publishing House that was very helpful and published the revised score.

In the composition, harp is presented as an instrument of many layers and colours. Moreover, for Jana Boušková one can only write a composition "infected" by her positive thinking. The composition is a little bit of a time lapsing documentary. In the first movement sharp registers can evoke the sounds of lute, harpsichord and ancient plucked instruments. The second movement are lively variations on impressionist theme that bring a memory of a friend Dušan Peterka. The sketch of the third movement is closely related to the Spanish town of Sagunto, a birthplace of my beloved author Joaguin Rodrigo." Lukáš Sommer
