The composition Strepitus festivi from 1982 was performed for the first time at Ellwangen castle near Aalen, Germany.

Jan Novák dedicated this composition for four French horns to his friend, the Czech director, actor and dramaturg Dušan Robert Pařízek (born 1941) who had lived and worked at the castle. Therefore it is one of the few compositions where a Czech title is added to the Latin: "A festive blowing for four French horns from four castle's corners", playing with the Czech "horn" and "corner" being the same word.

The quartet was, among others, performed by various French horn ensembles and recorded on a non-commercial CD "La cittá per Jan Novak" in arrangement for two trumpets and two trombones by Rino Mazzurana.
