Unison I for four saxophones - Pavel Zemek

31. prosinec 2009

Unison I for four saxophones (I. Der Bach und die Zeit, II. Der Fluss und die Zeit, III. Der See) from 2004 is a concise reflection on time, its flow and its layering.

Pavel Zemek (b. 1957) wrote over 100 chamber and orchestral instrumental works for various combinations, but his most characteristic works are those exploring the monophonic method of composing. He is convinced that the revival of monophony (unison) can be a way out of the Western art music crisis. His conviction resulted in writing many remarkable soloistic compositions for various instruments.

Other compositions by Pavel Zemek published in Czech Radio:
Sonata No. 2 for Violoncello solo
