Upside-down Variations on Mozart's theme for string quintet / string quartet / string orchestra - Lukáš Hurník

19. prosinec 2005

All the true variations begin with a theme and end by a Fugue. Nevertheless, the Upside-down Variations begin with a Fugue and then, clearing as they go, they slowly approach the line of Mozart's famous melody.

The audience is therefore set against a puzzle or a game of whoever finds out what the theme is. This piece has been composed to answer the request of Mozartiana Iuventus festival and was performed for the first time at Mozart's Bertramka in Prague on September 2000.
