Czech Christmas Parthias - Hataš, Mašek, Vaňhal, Anonymous (ed. Vojtěch Spurný)

"I chose seven wind parthias for this edition that are based mostly on parthias found in Czech castle archives. They are written for chamber instrumentation of two oboes, two French horns, one or two bassoons and therefore they present the most common type of wind harmony. In some of the compositions, the two bassoons do not play duet often, which suggests that both instruments played unison mostly; a similar thing is known from the Baroque orchestra where bassoon parts are part of basso continuo and they were often doubled or even multiplied."
