Arranger, conductor and trumpeter Václav Hybš (born 1935) graduated from State conservatory in Prague in 1955. He started as a trumpeter in Zdeněk Barták orchestra. He played also in Ladislav Bezubka orchestra, in circus Praga, in the spa orchestra in Poděbrady or in Varieté Alhambra.

He was a founding member of the Dance orchestra of Czechoslovak radio where he played under conductor Karel Krautgartner with many other excellent jazzmen, such as Kamil Hála, Luděk Hulan, Ivan Dominák or Pavel Vitoch. Since 1950s he has made music arrangements for various orchestras, gradually he began to organize his own ensemble and during 1962–64 an independent Václav Hybš orchestra was established in Rokoko theatre.

Since then he has been arranging all compositions for his orchestra and for singers whom he accompanies. The orchestra has performed on a popular music scene for more than fifty years. It has been cooperating with the television and the radio. It has recorded a series of records published on vinyls and CDs and it has cooperated with many Czech popular singers.
