Minimarathon of electronic music 2015 / live

22. srpen 2015

Saturday August 22th 2015 | 7 - 8 p.m. | Czech Radio VltavaListening through the contemporary electronic music scenes of today's times is like wandering through a maze. Nowadays we no longer listen to resonant synthesizors or amplified musical instruments only. There are also objects made of iron, wood and plastics, the sounds of streets or the landscape behind a city, there are resounding amplified subsonic movements of plants, error messages of computers, the voices of the past, and sonified electromagnetic impulses of the human body. How to find one's way in times when "composing" means almost the same as "purchasing a computer"?

Throughout the past decade, The Ostrava Minimarathon of Electronic Music has been trying to present the diversity of contemporary electronic scenes in a very radical way - by means of immediate confrontation. Within one day, they play works of authors who come from various creative backgrounds, accentuating the connections to various traditions of the 20th century avantgarda movements and linking the sound to visual and performative level.

This year we have decided to stress of one of the levels which - it seems - has been lately as if disappearing from the scene. This level is clear listening, active, comprehensing - listening to music which is empowered to create images. As a part of the concert seasion Euroradio Ars Acustica, there will be only a part of a 8-hour concert programme - a sound performance of the Polish author Martyna Poznanská and a music set of a Canadian composer Pierre Alexander Tremblay entitled asinglewordisnotenough. The complete programme is available on the web pages of Ostrava Days 2015; Minimaraton is a part of this project.

Concert takes place with a collaboration of Bludný Kámen and Gallery of Graphic Arts in Ostrava. Dramaturgy: Michal Rataj, Producer: Martin Klimeš (Bludný Kámen).
