Jorge Boehringer: Wind Icon / River Totem
Wind Icon/River Totem, is an intentionally acousmatic sound composition for radio broadcast. It was inspired by sound environment above and below the surface of the Vltava, close to the Výtoň - Smíchov train bridge on the Smíchov side, across the river from Vyšehrad, Prague.
Sounds where analyzed and resynthetized. Wind-like behaviors where also modeled by filtering white noise. The third major group of sounds consist of a set of cymbal sounds captured using a microphone array. The idea, minimally, is that the perception of the listener creatively collaborates with the broadcast sounds. A meta-image was done according to originally obtained sound material. Some inspirations go back to work by Luc Ferrari and Horatio Radulescu.
