Terri Hron: Forensic Music
Forensic Music is about uncovering, through meticulous investigation of evidence, what has transpired. A number of my pieces use similar materials: Pták Ohnivák (2010), Epiclastic (2011), Rockin’ (2014) and Phoenix (2016). Forensic Music is an attempt to bring together the fire, seashell and birdsong material that these pieces generated to dig into their history and potency, in order to try to understand why they keep recurring, so that I can let them go. Running through the piece excerpts the late poems of my grandfather, the poet Jan Vladislav, who also enjoyed reworking, recovering and translating past works and their origins.
