Petr Ferenc is well-known especially as a music journalist and turntablist. He stood and is very likely still standing behind the origins of projects such as the magazine HISvoice, the Stimul festival, or the improvisation platform Wakushoppu. He is the founder of the musical group Birds Build Nests Underground, or Radio Royal (with Tomáš Procházka), which we had the opportunity of hearing for instance at the occasion of Art’s Birthday in 2011. Lately he has been calling himself Phaerentz and regards himself as an autodidactic and a devoted solo artist, and seems to be steering away from the gramophones and vinyls, that is, he leaves them behind just like he gramophone needle leaves behind the mechanical waves of sound in the grooves of the vinyl. It is a process of continuity in which it is impossible to realize the up-to-date without having realized that which came before. He has released his third solo album with a simple title 3.
