Though we are mortal, our tales resist the reaper's scythe. Some legends outlive entire clans and nations. Every child learns that these legends are make-believe, and yet every child affectionately passes them on to their offspring. Mankind calls for truth but longs for myths; it seeks out the solidity of reality but idolizes the mist of illusion. Those who tell stories mix truth with legend, they turn reality into myth, they give our desires physical form.

With every sunset, the old truths cease to exist and with every sunrise a new truth is born. Each starry night sprinkles the sky with the golden seed of future desires and dreams; joy without truth is futile, and truth without the consolation of hopes is bitter. For all these reasons, people are destined to tell stories, since only stories can help them reach the distant, glowing vanishing point where all lines - all their truths and dreams - come together.
