First show of 2012

We started the New Year with a bang, with great news from the renowned African Music artist Youssou N'Dour who is set to contest in this year’s elections in Senegal.

Apparently he has support not only from the Senegalese population but also from the world. We also played some music from a popular group from Senegal, called Keur Gui with their famous track coup 2 guele. This from translation criticizes the current President of Senengal. 

The playlist included artists that have never been aired on the show before. Jay Rox, a Zambian hip hop artist featured on the playlist with his new single Ma danger. 

Then we had new sounds from Botswana featuring for the first time on the Friday Ripple show as well, with the unique sounds of kwasa kwasa which is still vibrant in the heart of the capital city Gaborone.
The wizards of the deserts with the song Dr Mokento. The song is flavoured with some mzansi house in it. Other genres were also covered from hip hop to coup decale. We closed the show with a beautiful song titled iziswe from the late Busi Mhlongo.
