Východiska: Festival Crosstalk skúma tému posthuman
Ôsmy ročník festivalu videoartu Crosstalk prebehne od 26. mája v Budapešti. Tematicky sa zameria na koncept posthuman a budúcnosť, v ktorej človek nebude zohrávať hlavnú úlohu. Jednotlivé diela prezentované na akcii budú skúmať ľudstvo na pokraji sci-fi prostredníctvom tém ako genderqueer, dark ecology alebo algorithmic creation.
“Témou prvého večera bude Temná ekológia, resp Dark Ecology. Budeme premietať filmy a videá od autorov ako Yuri Ancarani. Konkrétne pôjde o jeho snímku 'Il Capo', ktorá získala medzinárodný ohlas a predstavila sa aj na bienále v Benátkach.” prezrádza kurátorka akcie Szilvi Német. Festival sa bude konať na rôznych lokáciách po celej Budapešti. “V nedeľu prebehne ukončenie akcie v špeciálnom priestore – v múzeu protiatómového bunkra v labyrinte pod budapeštianskym hradom. Návštevníci sa budú môcť pozerať na videá zo zamrežovaných postelí. Čo sa týka tém, pôjde o vojnu, migráciu a terorizmus.”
A ako reflektujú umelci tvoriaci videoart súčasné digitálne a mediálne topografie? “Aktuálnym trendom je tento rok napríklad aplikácia Text2Speech. Je to zaujímavý fenomén, ktorý poukazuje na dystopickú budúcnosť, v ktorej programy rýchlejšie ako čo je schopný človek zachytiť, nahradia každý aspekt našej existencie,” dodáva kurátorka.
Crosstalk festival explores the topic of the Posthuman
The 8th edition of the video art festival Crosstalk starts on 26 May in Budapest. Thematically, it focuses on the concept of the Posthuman and a future, where humans won't play the leading role. The individual works presented at the event will explore humanity on the brink of sci-fi through topics such as genderqueer, dark ecology and algorithmic creation.
“The theme of the first day is Dark Ecology. We will show films and videos by authors such as Yuri Ancarani – his work 'Il Capo' which gained international acclaim and was shown at the Venice Biennale,” says Crosstalk's curator Szilvi Német. The festival will take place at various locations across Budapest. “On Sunday, the closing of the festival will take place at a special venue – an anti-nuclear museum in the labyrinth underneath the Budapest castle. Visitors will be able to watch the videos from gated beds. War, migration and terrorism are some of the topics presented.” How do video artists of today reflect upon current digital and media topographies?
“This year's trend, for instance, is the Text2Speech application. It's a fascinating phenomenon which alludes to a dystopian future, where programmes of a much faster speed than can be captured by the human consciousness, will be replacing every aspect of our existence,” adds the curator.
