About the Orchestra

About the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra
The Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra is among the most important, and most long-established, of Czech orchestras. Its creative dramaturgy and ever improving artistic level has helped it win a significant role in the country’s concert life. It is also warmly welcomed at concert halls beyond the Czech Republic. Its tradition dates back to 1926 and is linked to the creation of the station Radiojournal.
Season 2011/2012
The Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra frequently performs domestically at the Dvořák Hall at Prague’s Rudolfinum. The orchestra appears at the venue under principal conductor Ondrej Lenárd, main guest conductor Ronald Zollman, honorary principal conductor Vladimír Válek, and other notable artists (see concerts for season ticket holders).
The most significant collaborators of the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, both on stage and when it comes to recordings, include five soloists: organist Aleš Bárta, cellist Michal Kaňka, violinist Jan Mráček, pianist Jan Simon, and violinist Ivan Ženatý.
