In honour of the king…
…the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra (SOČR) with conductor Tomáš Brauner is playing a concert in Poděbrady on 17 May. The programme of the festive concert, which will be the climax of events celebrating the 550th anniversary of George of Poděbrady’s peace mission, includes the national anthem of the Czech Republic, Beethoven’s Ode to Joy, which is the anthem of the European Union and the Council of Europe, Smetana’s Vltava, and three of Dvořák’s Slavonic Dances.
At the same time, listeners will also be commemorating the 10th anniversary of the Czech Republic’s accession to the European Union.
The diplomatic corps of 19 EU countries as well as the prime minister of the Czech Republic will be celebrating with them.
