New concert series in the Municipal House
You have most probably already registered that alongside the traditional concerts at the Rudolfinum we are also preparing a new season-ticket holders’ series at the Smetana Hall in the Municipal House for the 2014–2015 season. The Czech Radio Radiožurnál presenters Lucie Výborná and Jan Pokorný will serve as MCs. Take a look at the programmes of individual CONCERTS.
The director of the Centre for Ensembles, Competitions and Festivals, Jan Simon, introduced the concerts in the new venue: “We want to create an environment in which a lady in an evening dress will feel just as good as somebody who comes to a concert straight from work in informal, albeit very ‘decent’ clothes. We want to use projections above the stage in the case of projects related to an audio-visual environment. We want concerts to be accompanied by presenters’ dialogues on a given subject – not lectures in the style of ‘educational concerts’ – and for the flow of ideas to be coordinated with the theme of the concert.”
We are preparing the first concert in the new series for Monday 13 October, when the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra (PRSO), headed by principal guest conductor Tomáš Brauner, will perform jazz inspired and infused pieces by the composers L. Bernstein, G. Gershwin, L. Simon, J. Kučera and others.
