Martina Bačová, violin
Martina Bačová belongs to the most successful artists of her generation. She began playing the violin when she was five years old. She subsequently studied with several teachers, eventually joining the Janáček Conservatory Ostrava. She then studied with Prof. Ivan Ženatý at the Prague Conservatory and after successfully passing entrance examinations in Dresden spent two years at the Carl Maria von Weber Hochschule für Musik there. One of her teachers was also Prof. Zdeněk Gola at the Art Faculty of Ostrava University.
In her early years she successfully took part in a number of competitions, e.g. the International Kocian Violin Competition at Ústí nad Orlicí (first prize) and the Prague Junior Note Young Talent Competition (absolute winner). In 1999 she won the jury prize at the Meissen Master Courses and in 2002 the first prize plus a prize for the best performance of a work by Beethoven at the Beethoven's Hradec International Violin Competition. A recording resulted in her being awarded an Encore School for Strings scholarship in Cleveland where she appeared in concerts, one of her appearances being chosen for a classical music radio WCLV live broadcast in 2005.
She often gives concerts with the Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava, the North Bohemian Philharmonic Teplice, and also with chamber orchestras, such as the Janáček Chamber Orchestra, the Camerata Janáček, or the Talich Chamber Orchestra. Martina Bačová makes frequent appearances in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, France and Spain.
"Elegant Provocation", her CD debut by publishing house ArcoDiva, gained during the year 2009 recognition at home as well as abroad. The singer Štefan Margita has chosen Martina for his 2009 world music project JA RA LAJ.
In May 2009, Martina Bačová presented herself during the Prague Spring International Music Festival in her own recital.
