| We have chosen names for the kestrels based on the suggestions we received. Here are the names for parents: Hynek and Bara. The names for the hatches are: Ruzenka, Rozarka, Vilem, Vitek and Matej. Because the kestrels now move around in the nest and sometimes occupy the place that the camera doesn’t see, you won’t see much too. The parents are not to be seen at all. But the sure thing is that they fetch the food for the hatches. The kestrels already tear the food themselves. From time to time we can see the hatches training their wings in the nest. On Tuesday 16th of July afternoon, we first noticed that one kestrel hatch left the nest and jumped on the roof. It walked there the way the pigeons do and tried to jump a little bit and fly a few times. Anyway, we are going to finish the transmission in a week. |
| | | | Poštolčí mláďata | | Four of five hatches were ringed at the nest on June 25. The fifth one is obviously smaller – it hatched out as the last one three days after the others. We did not ring this hatch. They are all very hungry and go-ahead at the same time. There are times you can see two mice in the nest at once. The hatches try to tear their food apart themselves, and are quite successful. The smallest one tried to swallow a piece that was beyond its capability. It looked quite dramatically but the kestrel mother stepped in and saved the hatch from suffocating by pulling the mouthful out of its bill. As mentioned above, the hatches got their rings but their sex is not known yet. We are in search of names the hatches and the parents too, six male names and six female ones. As soon as we mentioned this in Dobre jitro programme, the listeners started to answer and here are the first suggestions: Sivka, Drápek, Pírko, Chocholka, Očko, Šedivka, Čiřik, Letka, Smělý, Rychlý, Diblík, Zoban, Zobka, Pařátek, Peruťka, Černokrčka, Bělopírek, Černohlávek, Růženka, Alfréd, Rozárka and others and others.
