Hu, hu, hu my name is Kamba and I came to the Prague Zoo as a last member. I lived in Prague before though and that was from August 2001 until August 2003. Then the floods came and if it was not for the people that saved me, I would probably not be here now.
I left for Zoo in Dvur Kralove and lived there satisfied with my peer Tadao. At the end of the year 2005 they moved me to Prague. They say it's going to be good for me as there is a handsome male by the name of Richard waiting for me there.
I was born a long time ago - in 1972 - in Africa probably in the forests of Cameroon. When I was two years old animal traders caught me. They killed my mother and other aunties and uncles from my family. It was horrible but I almost do not remember it. Then they sold me to a Zoo in Leipzig and from the year 1995 I lived in Duisburg Zoo and finally in Zoo Dvur Kralove nad Labem.
You may ask me why they have kept me there for such a long period. According to zoologists and friends, I am very important, perhaps the most important gorilla here as I come from wild nature and am not a relative with any other gorilla bred in captivity. I have not unfortunately had a child yet. With Tadao, we failed to have one.
When I reunited with Kijivu and Shinda after a very long time and met with Richard for the first time there were many dramatic moments. Boxes and tree twigs were flying above our heads; I was shouting and chasing Richard in the pavilion. Richard was afraid of me after that and ignored me for some time.
At the beginning of the year 2006 Marek Ždánský gave me pregnancy tests but unfortunately they were not positive. I was not depressed though. I took care of little Moya, learnt how to take care of a baby and I keep hoping that one day I will have my own.
During one May night I got hope. Repeated pregnancy tests confirmed that I am pregnant. The whole world found out this news in September 2006. I am really looking forward to giving birth to a gorilla boy or a girl.
The baby is to be born any time now. For almost a month my friends from the Revealed have been monitoring me with cameras during day and night. They want to capture on film how my baby is born. I would like to help them but I myself have no clue when it is going to happen. All I am hoping for is that the delivery will be without complications and I will be able to enjoy my first child. Looking really forward to that although I am not feeling too good now.
