Sacred Arias and Duets (ed. Jiří Kotouč)
This small collection of sacred arias and duets of Czech composers of the 18th century has been created for a practical usage of singers and students.
Arias by Šimon Brixi, Antonín Reichenauer, Karel Blažej Kopřiva and duet by Jiří Ignác Linek come from the archive of Ladislav Vachulka (1910 – 1986), an organist, cembalist, organ music theorist and professor at Prague conservatory. Aria and duet by František Xaver Brixi and arias from Antonín Fils’ mass come from the archive of St Jacob basilica in Prague.
The levels of difficulty and range of voices vary; everybody can choose according to his or her own field of study and level of technical advancement. All the works have been copied and modified from scores to piano reductions for keyboard instruments (cembalo, organ, piano) and have not been published in this form before.
