[04] Vlastislav Matoušek: Vox Clamantis

..., as is written in the book of the prophet Isaiah:
"The voice of one crying in the desert:
Prepare ye the way of the Lord,
make straight the paths of our God!
Every valley shall be filled,
and every mountain and hill shall be brought low;
and all the crooked ways shall become straight,
and the rough places plain;
and all the flesh shall see the salvation of God."

Some things are difficult to talk about, write about, or even read - in particular those which bubble up from the dark abyss of the human mind and soul, from our unconsciousness, arrogant self-centeredness, callousness, thoughtless ignorance, which is just as boundless as the vast dizziness of love and empathy which we sometimes encounter in some beings, even humans.

I myself consider that which we as homo sapiens inflict on other beings to be a fundamental stain on the face of humanity. Anyone who is not willing or able to be aware of something like this is at the very least "chained" to a virtual ball and chain which quite reliably prevents any deeper spiritual exaltation or enlightenment.

But it sometimes takes surprisingly little for a person to change his opinion and to cease to be the cause of the suffering of others. Just listening, for instance. Listening to music. I hope. For these reasons, these beings - human and animal - and I raise our voices, our vox clamantis in deserto - our voice crying in the desert.
