Afro-Franco March
Even as the month of March comes to an end we are still living the fun. It was a special Francophone Friday Ripple month of music from countries like Congo DR, Cameroon, Togo, Guinea and Mali just to name a few.
Sounds like Soukous, Coupe Decale, Ndombolo, and Makossa were the highlights. The role of France can’t be overlooked as many African artists use it as an international promotional launch pad. With no language barrier many traditional African classics have been recorded in Paris studios.
In collaboration with the International Women’s Day, we gave a chance to many female African singers who are suppressed in the male controlled music industry. We paid our respects to the Barefooted Diva of Cape Verde, Cesaria Evora.
It was not easy receiving the news of the death of African icon and writer, Prof. Chinua Achebe. He will forever be remembered and respected as a great legend who enlightened Africa and the world through his writings.
